Welcome to Proximate ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service govern your use of the Proximate mobile application, website, and related services. By using our Services, you agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to use Proximate. You agree to provide accurate information during registration.
You are responsible for your login credentials and all activity under your account. Notify us at support@proximate.co.za if you detect unauthorized access.
You agree not to use Proximate for illegal, harmful, misleading, or abusive purposes. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.
Proximate uses approximate location data to display nearby users. Exact coordinates are never publicly shown. Data is stored securely according to South African law.
We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) Act, No.4 of 2013 as amended. Your information is processed according to South African laws. See our Privacy Policy for details: Privacy Policy.
Foreign users acknowledge that Proximate processes data in accordance with South African law. If foreign data law applies to you, contact us at legal@proximate.co.za.
If you reside in the EU or Switzerland, GDPR rights apply. We act as the Controller when handling your personal information.
GDPR users may access, correct, delete, restrict, or transfer their data, or withdraw consent.

We respond to legitimate requests within one month. Complex or multiple requests may require more time; we will notify you and keep you updated. We may also request additional information to verify your identity.
You retain ownership of your content but grant us a licence to display and distribute it as needed to provide the Services.
Proximate does not conduct background checks unless required by law. Exercise caution when interacting with others. Report harmful behaviour immediately.
All branding, designs, and software belong to Proximate. Do not copy or distribute them without permission.
We aim for uninterrupted service but cannot guarantee uptime, error-free performance, or compatibility with all devices.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms. You may delete your account anytime through the app or by contacting us.
Proximate is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including interactions between users. Your sole remedy is to stop using the Service.
You agree to indemnify Proximate from claims arising from your misuse of the platform or violation of these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after updates means you accept the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes will be resolved in South African courts unless otherwise required by international law.
Proximate uses a virtual in-app utility token called PRXM for transactions within the platform, including service bookings and peer interactions.
Reference Value:
For in-app convenience and pricing clarity, PRXM may be displayed using a reference value (e.g., 10 PRXM ≈ 1 ZAR). This reference value is used solely within the Proximate platform and does not represent a fixed exchange rate, guarantee, or store of monetary value.
Wallet:
Your PRXM balance is stored in an in-app wallet. This wallet is not a bank account, does not accrue interest, and PRXM has no cash value outside of Proximate.
Top-Ups:
You may acquire PRXM using supported payment methods made available in the app.
Withdrawals:
Eligible users may request withdrawal of PRXM converted to ZAR through supported payout methods. Withdrawals are subject to minimum limits, verification checks, processing times, and applicable fees. Proximate does not guarantee withdrawal approval or timing.
Fees:
Certain transactions, including peer-to-peer transfers or withdrawals, may incur service or processing fees, which will be disclosed before confirmation.
Proximate facilitates connections between Service Providers and Clients. We are not a party to the actual service contract.
Premium features (e.g., Stealth Mode, Unlimited Swipes) are available via subscription. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled 24 hours before the end of the current period.
